Cadets from Lincolnshire are hosting a special performance this weekend to celebrate Her Majesty’s 65 year reign and members of the public are encouraged to attend.

The Band and Corps of Drums of Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force (ACF) will be performing at the Recital Hall, Lincoln Minister School, on Saturday 22 April and will be taking to the stage alongside ACF bands from around the country to showcase all of their musical talents. The ACF performers will also be joined by the Lincoln Minister School Chamber Choir.

Adult volunteer and Director of Music Second Lieutenant James Wood from Lincolnshire ACF said: “Performing is an important part of being a member of an ACF band. We welcome both young people who are experienced players and total beginners into our band that play the trumpet, cornet, saxophone, flute, clarinet and bass to name a few. Aside from us teaching the cadets how to use the instruments, performing to live audiences helps to improve individuals’ self-confidence and commitment to learning their chosen instrument.

“The cadets have been rehearsing for the forthcoming concert for a number of weeks, so I would encourage local people to come along to attend what will be one of the highlights of the ACF’s music performing calendar.”

The event is set to take place from 7pm to 10pm on 22 April and tickets are priced at £5 per head. To learn more about the event or to book tickets in advance contact lincsacfband@armymail.mod.uk

In previous years, the band have travelled around the world to entertain audiences in Germany, Holland and Malta. In May this year, the band have been invited to perform at the Roeselare VE Day Tattoo in Belgium, which will include a parade through the town centre and a final performance in the market square.

New members aged between 12-18 years are always welcome to join Lincolnshire ACF’s band, to find out more contact 01522 528109.
