Grantham business reaches out to Armed Forces Community
A Grantham business, whose workforce includes a number of veterans, has pledged its support to the wider Armed Forces Community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant and gaining the Bronze Defence Employer Recognition Award.
TMS Support Solutions Ltd, based in Grantham, produce technical manuals for vehicle, aircraft and electronic equipment manufacturers as well as providing technical support in areas such as safety procedures.
The company has seen first-hand the variety of transferable skills that individuals trained by the military can bring into the workplace including leadership, management and problem solving abilities.
The Armed Forces Covenant can be signed by any public or private sector business and represents a promise to those who are currently serving our country that as a reservist, service leaver or spouse from a military family, that they will be treated fairly.
Andy Smith, Operations Director at TMS Support Solutions Ltd, said: “Almost 60% of our employees are service leavers and we’ve found that the technical skills that they bring to TMS in the fields of vehicle mechanics, avionics and electronics to name a few, are extremely valuable to the services we provide our clients.
“Deciding to sign the Armed Forces Covenant was an easy decision for us. It allowed us to show our commitment to the wider Armed Forces Community and to highlight this very valuable and highly skilled group of potential employees to other employers. As part of our ongoing commitment we are now working towards the Silver Recognition Award.”
