Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is pledging its commitment to reservists, veterans and Cadet Force adult volunteers by signing the Armed Forces Covenant next week.

Dr Peter Miller, Chief Executive, from LPT will be joined by Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Parker MBE, the Commanding Officer of 158 Regiment to sign the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Trust currently employs three reservists as well as a number of military service leavers.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr Peter Miller commented: “We are pleased to formally pledge our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant. The pledge reaffirms the importance we place on supporting veterans, reservists and their families to be able to access the most appropriate support when they need it. We are also committed to providing opportunities for employment in our workforce and already hold a Bronze Award as part of the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme.”

As well as signing the Covenant there will also be a military-influenced art exhibition created by local people, and members of staff and service users who have served with the Armed Forces will present stories about their experiences or connection with the Forces community.

John Wilson, the Ministry of Defence’s Regional Employer Engagement Director, said: “We are delighted that LPT are signing the Covenant and are publically pledging their commitment to support the men and women who serve and have served previously in our Armed Forces.”

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring those who serve in the Forces, or have serve previously, and their families are treated fairly.”
