4 MERCIAN OPENS ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC

4 MERCIAN will host two open events at the Army Reserve Centre in Bulwell on Monday 4 August and Tuesday 5 August to celebrate their return to the town.

Members of the public are welcome to attend at 12pm, to learn more about the Army Reserve.

An inflatable assault course, weapons stands and information on how to join The Mercian Regiment will be available at the event and serving soldiers will also be on hand to provide advice. The open day finishes at 4pm.

On 4 August, Major Massingham, Officer Commanding, C Coy, 4th Battalion, The Mercian Regiment will lead members of Nottinghamshire Army Cadet Force on a parade through the town. The march begins at10am and ends in Bulwell town centre. Here a plaque will be unveiled to commemorate those who gave their lives and served in WW1 from Bulwell and the surrounding areas, followed by a short service.

This falls on the day The Mercian Regiment will also be involved in various other events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Britain entering WW1.

For those who are unable to make the open day, an opening evening will also be hosted on Tuesday 5 August between 7.30pm and 9.15pm at the Army Reserve Centre on Hucknall Lane, Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, NG6 8AQ.
