A walk in the park for Wellingborough Air Cadets

Cadets from 378 (Mannock) Squadron Air Training Corps were out in force on the weekend of May 8 2015 to support their home town’s Waendel Walk.

The event, which welcomes over 5,000 walkers from far and wide, is a highlight in the Squadron’s calendar with Cadets assisting with the opening ceremonies as well as taking part as a team.  The 2015 event was no exception with a squad of over 20 Cadets and adult volunteers marching together as a unit.

The Squadron’s Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant William Kellock, led the Cadets across the route, which included various places of interest and villages in and around Wellingborough itself.  Following the event, and having suffered from sore feet himself, William said: “I’m immensely proud all the Cadets for taking part in the walk.  We’ve had a great turnout once again and the Squadron have had a fantastic response from the organisers and members of the public.”

The Squadron, based at Spring Gardens in Wellingborough, is currently recruiting for adult volunteer staff as well as welcoming new Cadets to its ranks.  Volunteers or young people interested in learning more about the RAF Air Cadets in Wellingborough can visit: www.378.org.uk. The Squadron’s training takes place at their headquarters on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
