AIR CADETS GO THAT EXTRA MILE

Congratulations to Cadet Sergeant Rachel Butcher and Cadet Corporal Sam Lee from 1890 (Dronfield) Squadron Air Training Corps (ATC) who have completed their Community Sports Leader Award with the Air Cadet Organisation.

This award enables Rachel and Sam to deliver sporting activities to the Cadets and staff in a safe and structured manner.

Speaking of her award Rachel said: “I’m really happy to get the qualification; it gives me even more opportunity to help with the Cadets”

Steve Broomhead, Officer Commanding, added: “It is great that Rachel and Sam have taken part in this award not only do they both already do a lot of activities here in support of the Squadron and the Cadets but they have now gone the extra mile to help us even more.”

The Community Sports Leaders Award is offered as an enrichment course to the Air Cadet Organisation which is studied in addition to Cadet’s regular training programme. It is a nationally recognised qualification awarded by Sports Leaders UK and provides an introduction for those people wishing to lead groups in sporting and recreational activities and gives those over 16 years, regardless of ability, the opportunity to train and provide voluntary assistance alongside qualified coaches or teachers.
