A Cadet from 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets has been selected for this year’s Duke of Westminster Award.

Cadet Sergeant Grace McDonald is one of 24 regional finalists shortlisted for the award, and will attend a four-day event in April which will narrow the finalists down to just nine.

The test event, which will take part in the Quantock Hills in Somerset, will test teamwork and leadership skills, as well as a range of physical and mental skills.

The group will then be narrowed down to nine national finalists who will travel to South America for a three-week educational expedition, as well as attending an awards ceremony at the House of Lords.

Cadet Sergeant Grace McDonald must also plan a 30 second video presentation on why she should be considered for the ‘CVQO Region Ambassador.’

209 (West Bridgford) Squadron ATC said they are hugely proud of Cadet Sergeant McDonald’s success and wish her the best of luck for the coming months.
