Musical cadets from across the East Midlands played in front of 15,000 people on 26 and 27 November as they took part in the annual Birmingham International Tattoo at the Barclaycard Arena.

Both Lincolnshire and Derbyshire ACF bands were also involved in the finale alongside both national and international bands

Cadet Kira Roberts of Lincolnshire ACF, said: “It was such an incredible journey and learning curve for me as a person and as a cadet. I found every single minute well worth the hard work. Performing with such amazing musicians, cadets and adults really made me feel very much at home.”

The National Marching Band of the Air Cadet Organisation also took part in the tattoo and that included Cadet Sergeant (Sgt) Hannah Eden from 422 (Corby) Squadron of the Royal Air Force Cadets.

Sgt Eden, who plays the side drum, said: “The Birmingham International Tattoo was an outstanding performance – it will stay with me forever. It was a fantastic show to finish off my year with the National Marching Band and I hope to be successful in my application for the band next year. A massive thank you goes to all of the cadets, staff and my family who have supported me and continue to support me with everything I do in the band.”

Flight Lieutenant Kev Ritchie RAFVR(T) of Corby Squadron, who attended the event, said: “This is a wonderful achievement for Sgt Eden, to not only represent her squadron but the Air Cadet organisation as a whole. Sgt Eden and the National Marching Band should be really proud of their performance. It was outstanding.”
