Employers attend military dinner in Lincoln

30 Employers from both private and public sector organisations in Lincolnshire had the opportunity to attend an employer engagement event at Sobraon Barracks to find out more about the Reserve Forces.

There are many reasons to support members of the Reserve Forces within the civilian business environment, but the event which took place on 18 June, was designed to highlight the positive skills and attributes individuals can bring to their local employer as well as emphasizing the major role Reservists play in supporting our Regular Forces in times of crisis.

Stav Melides, Business Liaison and Employer Support Officer, from the East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association Lincolnshire County Committee, organised the dinner. He said: “We were delighted to be able to invite a variety of representatives to attend a dinner at Sobraon Barracks. I believe that employers need to have the opportunity to meet and speak to Reservists, and other representatives from the military, in an informal setting to ask any questions they may have about the Reserve Forces or specific military roles face-to-face. The event took place in the Officers Mess at the Barracks, so this provided the perfect social setting for the event to take place in.

“The evening was a great success, and I have received a number of personal messages of thanks by both letter and email from those who came along. It is hoped other events like this can be organised in the future.”
