EMPLOYERS’ GOLF DAY GETS OFF TO A SWINGING START IN EREWASH

Employers’ from around the East Midlands joined members of our Reserve Forces yesterday (21 May) at Erewash Golf Club to help raise awareness about the significant role Reservists’ play in serving our country.

Nine teams tee’d off in style with an eager air of excitement surrounding the green. Each team was made up of both employers and members of our Reserve Forces meaning individuals could share knowledge and information about the benefits of employing Reservists.

John Wilson, East Midlands Regional SaBRE (Supporting Britain’s Reserves and Employers) Director, helped to organise the event. He said: “The event was a great success; the informal environment was the ideal place to learn more about the different Reservist roles and how their training could potentially benefit local businesses.”

Harry Fowler, of Hand Print and Design in Derbyshire, attended the event. He said: “It is great to be able to share experiences with other employers regarding employing Reservists. I also had the opportunity to speak to Reservists face-to-face during the golf day which was great as I was able to learn more about their experiences.”

During the event a number of SaBRE certificates were presented to employers who have demonstrated their support for the Volunteer Reserve Forces. Those awarded included: Hand Print and Design; Caterpillar (UK) Ltd and Nottingham Trams Ltd.
