The Royal Marines Reserve (RMR) detachment in Nottingham is set to open its doors to the general public in October to encourage individuals to learn more about joining their team.

The detachment’s Live Event is set to take place on Tuesday 21 October from 8pm at Foresters House, Swiney Way, Chilwell, Nottingham NG9 6QX.

Major Al Edgar, who works as an Airline Pilot in his civilian career, is helping to organise the forthcoming event. He said: “The RMR offers a range of opportunities to individuals who want to join us. As a unit we have the skills needed to deploy anywhere, in all conditions, and on operations with the regular (full-time) Royal Marines. Our training focuses on combat operations, communications and intelligence through one of the toughest training programmes in the UK.

“Our current Reservists have a range of civilian careers including working in the police service, fire service, individuals who are self-employed, unemployed and students. We are keen to speak to anyone who wants to find out more at our forthcoming event and those who attend will have a chance to speak to some of our current Reservists who have passed the training requirements and some who have previously been deployed on operations.”

If you are male and aged between 16 – 32 years, are physically fit and enjoy a challenge then joining the RMR could be for you.

The Nottingham-based RMR detachment is a part of RMR Merseyside.
