Lincolnshire Cadet featured in Soldier’s Charity calendar

A photograph of a Lincolnshire Army Cadet has been selected for the 2016 Soldier’s Charity calendar.

Soldiers, Veterans, Cadets, volunteers and their families were all invited to submit images for the publication, which this year will feature an image of Cadet Corporal Callum Yelland from Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force (ACF).

The competition, which was open to anyone with a connection to the Army, saw entrants take photos for categories including Reserves, Veterans, Cadets and World War One (WW1) Commemoration.

Lincolnshire ACF’s Public Relation Officer, Bill Thompson, scanned through the photographs captured at last year’s Annual Camp and opted for one of band member Cdt Cpl Callum Yelland, who was a wearing a specially made WW1 uniform.

Bill recalls: “It was early evening and I was taking a few snaps before the Officers’ Mess Dinner. The sky was a lovely colour and there was just enough light left in the day to take some outside photographs without using the camera’s flash.

“Callum was looking immaculate in his WW1 uniform and happy to pose!”

On being asked to be a judge for the competition, actress Jenny Agutter said: “Growing up with my father as an Army Captain and having met some of the men and women who’ve served in Afghanistan, I’m proud of our Armed Forces and the work they do.

“I also know how important The Soldiers’ Charity is in helping those in need. I’m looking forward to seeing the competition entries, I’m sure it’s going to be hard to choose a winner.”
