Laser target rifles will be among the attractions as an Army Reserve unit in Loughborough opens its doors to the public.

The 203 (Loughborough) Transport Squadron (Sqn) of the 158 Royal Logistics Corps will be having an open evening at its Leicester Road base from 7.30pm to 9pm on Tuesday, 31 January.

Visitors will be able to view the vehicles the unit uses and get up close with military equipment including using the laser rifles which are new to Loughborough.

Members of 203 Sqn will also be on hand to speak about the experiences and opportunities being an Army Reservist provides.

Captain Ben Wing of 203 Sqn, said: “We look forward to welcoming people to Leicester Road and providing a glimpse of what being a part of this unit is like.

“I’m sure visitors will be inspired by meeting our reservists and will gain a greater understanding of what Army Reserves do.”

Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) Richie Bowles of 203 Sqn, said: “The laser rifles are used for Ski Biathlon training and have a very low category laser in them. Members of the public will be able to have a go with them at the indoor shooting range we have and they will be supervised at all times.”

The 203 (Loughborough) Squadron is based at Army Reserve Centre, Leicester Road, Loughborough, LE11 2AF.
