Ready, steady, cook challenge for Melton cadets
Air cadets from 1279 (Melton Mowbray) Squadon Air Training Corps (ATC) have taken part in an inter-flight ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ challenge, hosted by professional chef, Tim Deacon to win the title of ‘MasterChefs’.
To prepare, the cadets were given a list of ingredients from which they could only choose a limited selection. With more than 10 cadets in each group, they were constantly under pressure to organise themselves and assign themselves roles.
Cadet Corporal Sam Page, aged 14, a member of the winning team, commented: “It was a real challenge. There was a constant sense of competition between teams.”
The winner was announced by Mr. Deacon who congratulated the cadets. He said: “It was very impressive to see what the cadets achieved under such difficult conditions. I would have struggled. They should all be very proud of themselves, especially green team who narrowly won.”
Anyone who is aged 12 and in Year 8 at school or upwards and is interested in seeing the wide range of activities on offer can visit the squadron on a Tuesday or Thursday night from 7.15pm at the Cadet Centre, Asfordby Road. More information can be found by emailing joinus@meltonaircadets.org.uk
