Staff from Melton Air Cadets meet Honorary Ambassador

Staff members from 1279 (Melton Mowbray) Squadron Air Training Corps (ATC) had the chance to meet Group Captain Carol Voderman over the weekend at the RAF Cosford Air Show.

The staff and Cadets from the Squadron, who attended the event alongside members of Cadets organisations from around the country, had the chance to meet the Honorary Ambassador for the Air Cadet Organisation as she enjoyed the Air Show.

The day also included the chance to have a look around the RAF museum as well as watching displays from the Red Arrows and The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Civilian Instructor Karl Attwood commented: “We were all especially delighted to learn that Group Captain Vorderman would be there. She attracted considerable attention, not just from members of the ACO, but many members of the public who were intrigued by her presence in uniform. It’s great that we have such a high profile ambassador working on behalf of the organisation to promote it to the wider public and she took time to speak to as many staff and Cadets as possible, all of whom were inspired by her friendliness and enthusiasm.”

Anyone who is aged 12 and in Year 8 at school or upwards and is interested in seeing the wide range of activities on offer can visit the squadron on the final Thursday night of each month from 7.15pm at the Cadet Centre, Asfordby Road, Melton Mowbray..
