Teeing off in Erewash

14 teams made up of local Reservists and employers are set to take to the golf course on Wednesday 20 May as part of a Defence employer engagement programme.

The event, at Erewash Valley Golf Club in Derbyshire, has been arranged to allow employers to spend time with a variety of Reservists in order to learn more about the Reserve Forces and the benefits that military training can bring to the civilian workplace.

Phil Giles, Chairman of the East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA)  Derbyshire County Committee and Long Eaton Rotary Club member, said: “The golf event is primarily organised by the Long Eaton Rotary Club and, in previous years, has been extremely successful in providing an opportunity for employers to learn more about the Reserve Forces by engaging with Reservists in an informal environment.

“This year we have 14 teams of four people taking part, which is our largest number of employer and Reserve Forces teams to date. Prizes will be presented to the winning team by HM Lord-Lieutenant for Derbyshire at the event dinner, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all employers for giving up their time to further their knowledge about the Royal Naval Reserve, Royal Marine Reserves, Army Reserve and Royal Air Force Reserve.”
