On Saturday 25 October Mablethorpe Air Cadets were at the Poppy Appeal Launch at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby. There they received the honorary award from the Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire Tony Worth.

Shortly afterwards, the Cadets and staff were astonished at an announcement  that the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire Tony Worth had donated his flight in the Lancaster ‘Just Jane’ to one of the Cadets. The lucky member of the unit was Cadet Lippolis, he was shocked at such an amazing opportunity. Cadet Lippolis said: “I can’t believe it, it is my first ever time in an aircraft! It is an extremely kind gesture and I am so pleased and grateful for the experience.”

Cadet Lippolis was chosen by all of the other Cadets due to his outstanding performance in all areas of the Cadet organisation including parades, community work and sports. He has also represented the unit at local and regional level in hockey and athletics.

The Lancaster ‘Just Jane’ taxied around the runway at East Kirkby where Cadet Lippolis sat in the cockpit as he picked the highest number for his chosen seat. Before the taxi ride he had a tour around the Lancaster where he learned about the history of the magnificent aircraft.
