Nottinghamshire Army Cadet Force (ACF) is working with a student from Nottingham Trent University to create a recruiting video.

The partnership is two-fold, the student is studying BA (Hons) Media and is volunteering to produce a short video as part of this, and Nottinghamshire ACF is recruiting both cadets and adult volunteers and needs promotional materials.

Adult volunteer Lieutenant Richard Etherington, who works as a solicitor in his civilian career, hosted a recruiting stand at the University’s Fresher’s Week last year, which is where he first had the idea of working with a media student.

Richard explained: “As NTU Alumni I am fully aware of the value that the student population add to Nottingham. As we are a city home to two large Universities I was keen to capitalise on the enthusiasm students have to devote their spare time to worthwhile courses.

“NTU’s values of enriching society and empowering people are directly aligned with the ACF’s values of integrity and selfless commitment.

“I hope that having Jacob on board is the first step in developing deep links between our two organisations”

Last weekend (17-18 March) saw Jacob Germany from the University visit Nottinghamshire ACF at Beckingham Training Camp.

He commented: “It was really interesting to see the volunteers as they undertook their regular training activities.

“I filmed a range of footage including a number of interviews with cadets and volunteers from the north of the county.

“I’d like to personally thank the visiting soldiers and volunteers who were extremely welcoming and helpful while I was filming.

“I plan to have my assignment complete by summer this year so hopefully the video will be useful in aiding the ACF’s recruiting efforts in Nottinghamshire.”

Nottinghamshire ACF has detachments throughout the county including Bilborough, Bulwell, Mansfield, Newark, Nottingham, Retford, Worksop and Southwell.
