Handing over the keys
East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA) has today (1 November) handed over the keys for Long Eaton Cadet Training Centre to the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Air Training Corps (ATC) as the new building is fully constructed and ready to move in.
The new Cadet Training facility has been developed to replace two cadet training huts that formerly existed on the site on Grange Park Station Road in Long Eaton. The former constructions were built in around 1970 and were extremely tired and not suitable for renovation.
The new building includes a drill hall, office spaces, classrooms and toilet areas that will be shared between both Army and Air Cadets in the Derbyshire area.
Martin Capewell, Head of Estates at East Midlands RFCA, said: “We were delighted to be able to hand over the keys to the ACF and ATC today. The project has taken approximately eight months to complete and includes a variety of excellent facilities that will be used and enjoyed by young people in cadet organisations locally for years to come.”
The site redevelopment cost just over £450,000, and works were managed locally by lead contractors John Martin Hoyes of Lincoln.
An official opening event is being planned by East Midlands RFCA to take place in November.
