Cadet 18 returns for a fourth year
Young people from across Nottinghamshire will be taking part in the fourth annual cadet competition, Cadet 18, later this month (21 April).
Cadet 18 will be held in Nottingham and pits teams from the Army Cadet Force (ACF), RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC), Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) and the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) against one another in order to demonstrate the skills they have developed whilst in cadets.
The competition will include a climbing wall race, a leadership trial and a vehicle pull, as well as a Cadet Gun Run later in the afternoon.
Event organiser, Warrant Officer Dan Haywood, a senior adult volunteer with the RAFAC, explained: “This is the 4th Annual Nottinghamshire Cadet Competition, I love the fact that I have returning cadets year after year saying it’s the best event in their cadet calendar.
“The Air Cadets have won the event trophy three years in a row and this year they will be trying to maintain their winning run.
“2018 is extra special because I have joined forces with Major Spencer from the Army Reserve and his team, to organise the Gun Run Knockout Championship.”
The winning team will take home The Nottinghamshire Cadet Winners Shield.
There will be eight teams of cadets taking part, aged between 14 and 17.
