Bringing Cadet organisations together

The biannual Regional Inter-Service cadet Committee, which brings together senior leaders from the MoD sponsored cadet organisations (Combined Cadet Force, Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps) from across the East Midlands, took place on 1st October 2013 at TS Orion, home of the Nottingham’s Sea Cadet Corps, courtesy of the Sub-Lieutenant Adam Crump, Commanding Officer of TS Orion.

The meeting was Chaired by Colonel Peter Christian, Colonel Cadets from HQ 49 (East) Brigade and was also attended by staff from the Brigade’s cadet’s branch.  Ms Heather Neep from the Defence Sixth Form College Welbeck gave the meeting a highly informative briefing on the opportunities DSFC Welbeck offers young people.
Simon Worsley, Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Cadets and Youth at East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association, said: “It is important to bring each of the cadet organisations together when possible to discuss best practise and how they could potentially use each other’s learning to improve and build on the current cadet experience.
“The most recent meeting was held at the Sea Cadet’s unit on Water Side Way in Nottingham and was attended by Commandant’s from the Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps and other senior personnel from 49 (East Brigade).
“Feedback from the meeting was positive and it is hoped the next meeting with be held early in the New Year.”
