A presentation event was held at the company’s offices on Canwick Road, Lincoln earlier today (Thursday 25 January).

The Ministry of Defence’s Assistant Regional Engagement Director for the East Midlands, Catherine Suckling presented Justin Scarborough, Buildbase’s Managing Director for the North Division, with the company’s Silver Employer Recognition Scheme Award.

The organisation were notified about the Award in late 2017 but were unable to attend the previous presentation event.

21 public and private sector businesses from around the region received Silver Awards last year, with each previously signing the Armed Forces Covenant and demonstrating their support in a variety of ways to members of the Armed Forces community.

This support could include showing flexibility towards the annual training commitments and mobilisation of reservist employees, supporting the employment of cadet instructors, Armed Forces veterans (including wounded, injured and sick) and military spouses/partners.

Catherine Suckling explained: “I was delighted to present Buildbase with the Award. As a builders’ merchants the organisation needs its staff to have a varied skillset. Those who currently or have previously served in the Armed Forces on either a full or part-time basis each possess a selection of skills that can be easily transferred into the civilian workplace.

“Skills such as the ability to lead and manage a team, solve problems and communicate effectively are all recognised as positive qualities by Buildbase. I therefore look forward to continuing to build our working relationship over forthcoming months.”
