Celebrating a year of Cadet achievements

An event took place at Derby Cathedral on Sunday (22 September) to celebrate the achievements made by young people who are a part of the Army Cadet Force (ACF) in Derbyshire.

The ceremony, that takes place annually, included a service in the Cathedral and a march past in Derby’s Market Square.
Approximately 250 cadets and 120 adult volunteers, from Derbyshire ACF, attended the event and took part in the parade.
A number of VIP guests were also present at the event including the Vice Lord-Lieutenant for Derbyshire Colonel John Wilson OBE DL, the High Sheriff for Derbyshire Mr Derek Mapp DL and the Mayor of Derby Cllr Fareed Hussain.
Colonel John Wilson said: “It was an honour to be invited to the event and to congratulate the cadets in person for another successful year. The event, known locally as Cadet Sunday, is important not only for the cadets but for the adult volunteers too as it demonstrates to them how all of their efforts are appreciated by the ACF and the wider community in the county.”
