Long Eaton Air Cadets mark Merchant Navy Day

Royal Air Force Air Cadets from Long Eaton joined members of the Royal British Legion, Erewash Borough Council and The Long Eaton Sea Cadets to remember those of the Merchant Navy who gave their lives in the two World Wars and in conflict since.

Merchant Navy Day is held every year on the 3rd of September and a small Parade and Service of Remembrance was held at the Long Eaton War Memorial on that date.  The service was led by Father Ken Johnson during which the Last Post was played to mark the beginning of a minutes silence, time to reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women at sea.
