Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire’s letter to Veteran Associations
Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mike Kapur and the Veteran Associations’ Committee Chair, Brigadier William Hurrell have published a letter to Veteran Associations.
” Dear All
It has now been over a year since we have all been able to meet at County Hall for the biannual Veteran Associations’ Meetings. At your last meeting in October 2019, none of us could have predicted the challenges that this year would bring.
The outbreak of the coronavirus has affected us to a greater extent than many of us were
perhaps anticipating earlier in the year, and life as we know it has had to be put on hold. As
Lord-Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire, we have been pleased over the past
few months to see so many heart-warming examples of kindness, generosity and thoughtful
human nature across our City and County, which is helping our communities stick together
during this difficult time.
We are writing to you today with our good wishes to you all and hope that you have all been
keeping safe and well. We are also writing to assure you that, when we can be completely
reassured that it is safe, we look forward to welcoming you back to County Hall for a long
overdue Veteran Associations’ Meeting.
Please do let us know via the office what you have been up to and how lockdown life has
impacted you personally and your association. The Lieutenancy’s link with the Veteran
Community is extremely important to us, and we look forward to when we can meet again.
Yours Sincerely
Mr Mike Kapur, OBE Brigadier William Hurrell
The Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire Deputy Lieutenant &
Chair of Veteran Associations’ Committee ”
