Across the country, parades took place celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the first weekend in June – and Northampton was no exception, with thousands lining the streets to watch.

Some 1150 Cadets and Adult Volunteers representing the Services from across the area joined the parade through Northampton town centre, with a Guard formed by Reservists from 118 Recovery Company, 103 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

All 12 Combined Cadet Forces (CCF) from Northamptonshire were involved, together with the local See Cadet Corps training ships, as well as TS Fernie from Market Harborough.

The Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force (LNR ACF) were represented by all three Companies. All the Royal Air Force Air Cadets Squadrons from the county also attended.

The Parade was divided into four sections, each led by a band, including those from the Oundle School CCF, 5F (Northampton) Squadron, and A Company’s Corps of Drums from LNR ACF.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire accepted the salute from the parade, accompanied by his Cadets. The march through town was followed by a drumhead service in the Market Square, which was conducted by Father Oliver Coss, Padre to LNR ACF.
