Potential Officers Selection Training (POST) – was a success

A number of potential Army Cadet Force (ACF) officers attended a training event at Chetwynd Barracks in Nottingham last weekend (11 and 12 May).

Under the watchful eye of Colonel Chris Young, who for the weekend swapped his role as Commandant at Derbyshire ACF to that of President of Potential Officer Selection Training (POST), a crack team of specially selected ACF officers from across the East Midlands put 16 potential ACF officers through their paces in what can be best described as a mock Cadet Forces Commissioning Board (CFCB). Each of the activities was designed to be preparation for those successful candidates’ eventual attendance at the CFCB at Westbury.

The weekend included psychometric tests, lecturettes, planning exercises, interviews and command tasks. The candidates’ performance  were analytically examined by the eagle eyed directing staff to ensure that at the end of the weekend there was enough evidence to be able to produce an accurate report on the individual’s potential to pass the rigorous CFCB and gain the prestigious ACF Commission.

The selection training was facilitated by East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA), and the next POST is planned for the weekend of 16 and 17 November 2013.
