Weekend roundup: Athletics and adventure
It has been a busy weekend for cadets and reservists across the East Midlands with many pursuing sporting excellence and others creating a sense of adventure.
Eastern region were crowned champions of the national Army Cadet Force (ACF) Athletics Championships which took place in Grantham on Saturday (9th June).
ACF cadets from across the East Midlands and East Anglia made up the winning team which competed in both track and field events.
As well as the ACF Athletics event, the Central and Eastern Region of the Air Training Core (ATC) also held their annual athletics competition.
The ATC’s Trent Wing were victorious with participation in almost every section and several winners in each category making them overall champions.
Lincolnshire District Sea Cadets held a regatta training weekend in preparation for their participation in the regional competition. But they weren’t the only ones with Chesterfield Sea Cadets also choosing to spend the weekend on the water.
Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland ACF sent cadets from two of their companies to Yardley Chase Cadet Centre where they spent the weekend honing their fieldcraft skills.
Reservists from 167 Catering Support Regiment visited Capel Curig in Wales where they participated in a variety of adventure training.
138 (1st Nottingham) Squadron visited Cosford Air Show where they got to watch some incredible aircraft displays by both modern and historic aircraft. They also had the chance to meet Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty the Commandant of the RAF Air Cadets.
