WORKS COMMENCE AT SOBRAON BARRACKS ARMY RESERVE CENTRE, LINCOLN
Work has begun on the £1.6m building project at Sobraon Barracks Army Reserve Centre (ARC) in Lincoln. The project will provide additional facilities for 158 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps, including new garages, vehicle maintenance areas and gymnasium.
The Sobraon Barracks project was originally scheduled to be a 34 week programme but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the work is likely to be slightly delayed in completion. The building contractors are Gelders Group, with Allan Joyce Architects the designers on the project.
Lieutenant Colonel AP Gifford, Commanding Officer, 158 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps commented: “The construction of the new garages, maintenance areas and gymnasium at the Sobraon Barracks ARC will greatly enhance the capability of 158 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps. It provides us with the facilities to maintain the military vehicles of 160 Transport Squadron and allows our soldiers to greatly improve their personal fitness. The new build will ensure that the Regiment has a serviceable vehicle fleet and fit soldiers ready to deploy on operations both in the UK and abroad.”
The Contracts Manager for the project from Gelders commented: “We are very excited to be working with East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association to construct the new training centre and workshop building which will provide new amenities for the Barracks and all who use the facilities.”
