Army Cadet Force Bands’ Annual Christmas Concert goes virtual

Cadet virutal Concert

An annual event which everyone in the Army Cadet Force Bands looks forward to is playing with colleagues from across the country in a Christmas carol concert.

As it couldn’t be done in person this year,  it sparked an idea for Cadets to celebrate in a new way.  And so Cadet Bands from around the country got together to perform Christmas music in the first ever virtual Christmas Carol Concert.

Lt Peter Ward, Director of Music for Derbyshire Army Cadet Force orchestrated the Zoom event, which took place on Saturday the 19th of December.  There were over 50 participants in the concert, with ACF bands from 7 different counties across the UK, and even included the Delaware Firebrigade Band from the United States of America.

Peter commented: “This was a major undertaking with Cadet Force Adult Volunteers from each county working many hours/days and even burning the midnight oil to try and collate the individual parts their Cadets have been practicing recording and sending in, so they could be pieced together to sound like one band.”

“The amount of work put in by Cadets and staff has been astounding. I am so proud of the whole team.  The concert enabled us to work with our colleagues from ACF Music all around the country again, something that we have all really missed during the lockdown period.”
