Cadets support classic car show
Army Cadets and adult volunteers from Glossop, Buxton and Chapel En-Le-Frith detachments were out in force on Sunday (14/10) at the Glossop vintage vehicle show where former Army Cadet Commandant Mike Cheetham held a stall in aid of SSAFA.
Despite the wet weather the vintage vehicle show, held at Manor Park in Glossop, was a resounding success and incorporated an array of vintage vehicles from classic brands like Bentley and Rolls Royce, to military motorbikes and Land Rovers that were all judged for trophies. A portion of the entry fee was also donated to SSAFA and the show was attended by High Peak MP Ruth George.
Cadet Corporal Kurtis Pegg who was at the event, said:“It was really rewarding knowing that the money we were raising from the stall was going to veterans in need, it was nice to meet the MP too who spoke to me about my experience of the Army Cadet Force”
Soldiers Sailors Airmen and Families association (or SSAFA) is a national charity that has been serving the armed forces community for 130 years. SSAFA works with veterans on debt, homelessness, physical injuries, addiction, bereavement and whatever challenges they may be facing.
