Construction of a new Royal Air Force Air Cadet (RAFAC) Training Facility in Coalville, Leicestershire, is underway.
The previous building, a brick structure from the late 1940s, reached the end of its economic life and was demolished earlier this year to make way for a modern two-storey facility.
Thanks to funding from RAFAC, 1188 (Coalville) Squadron Air Cadets will benefit from a significant expansion, allowing for an increase in the number of Cadets who can parade on Forest Road.
This expansion aligns with the Government’s goal of increasing the Cadet Forces by 30% by 2030, announced last August.
The new-build in Coalville is the latest in a series of projects delivered by the East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA), following the successful completion of facilities in Beckingham, Bourne, Ripley and Skegness last year.
The new building, which will help to enhance the RAFAC experience, is expected to be completed this autumn.

“The new facility in Coalville will significantly improve the training environment for Cadets parading on Forest Road by providing a modern, purpose-built space.
“It will help to inspire other children and young people across the Leicestershire area to join a youth organisation that provides opportunity and life skills.”
