Estates

We provide key estates assurance and advisory services to Defence.

From Buxton to Northampton, Swadlincote to Skegness, we are the custodians of a vast estate that includes 365 buildings across 135 sites, all of which are crucial locations for our Reserve and Cadet Forces’ work and training.

Since the introduction of a fresh operating model in 2024, our staff now oversee the hard facilities management services delivered by VIVO. In short, we monitor, manage and report on their performance to Defence Infrastructure Organisation, the estates arm of the Ministry of Defence.

We also manage services which fall outside of VIVO’s remit, such as soft facilities management, and act as important estates advisers on behalf of the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force.

Need to report a fault? Please contact VIVO via vehelpdesk@vivodefence.com or 0800 030 9320.

The helpdesk is available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Foresters House

We are currently working on a number of transformative estates projects. The biggest include:

Beckingham Cadet Training Facility

This sustainable new-build will be a vast improvement on the current facilities, which are housed in an open-plan structure from the 1940s that is no longer fit-for-purpose.

Three sleeping blocks, amenities, storage space, more external training space and state-of-the-art ancillary buildings are included in these multi-million-pound expansion plans, which have already won plaudits for their focus on sustainability.

These modern facilities will create a dedicated training space for Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force, allowing them to organise more local training weekends, which will be a welcome boost to recruitment. The facilities, due for completion in 2025, will also be available to other Cadets from around the country, providing wider benefits to many.

Kendrew Barracks Army Cadet Centre

The Army Cadets are moving into Kendrew Barracks.

St George’s Detachment of the Leicestershire, Northampton and Rutland Army Cadet Force are currently based at St George’s Barracks, Rutland. With their site set for closure as the barracks has been deemed surplus to requirements, we are overseeing the Detachment’s move to Kendrew Barracks, also in Rutland.

We are in the process of constructing a new modular building to accommodate the Army Cadets. When the project is completed in the spring of 2026, the Cadets will benefit from a larger drill hall, modernised facilities and closer links with the British Army.
