Finance and HR Support Officer
Applications are invited for the part-time (18.5 hours) post of Finance and HR Support Officer (FSO) with East Midlands RFCA to work within EM RFCA Headquarters at Triumph Road, Nottingham, NG7 2GG. The successful candidate will be expected to reside within a daily travelling distance of the EM RFCA HQ.
EM RFCA Role and Responsibilities
East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (EM RFCA) is responsible for managing and maintaining the Army Reserves and Cadet premises across the East Midlands and contributes to wider Ministry of Defence (MoD) outputs.
We play a leading role in strengthening the environment for the Armed Forces through building relationships with local communities and employers.
We help deliver the MoD’s youth support programme through the MoD-sponsored Cadet Forces, providing opportunities for young people to reach their fullest potential, irrespective of background.
We are also responsible for engaging with Reservists’ employers, supporting Reservists and Cadets, and assisting with the recruitment of Army Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
General Description of the Role
The Finance and HR Support Officer plays an important role in supporting the effective financial management of the organisation. Working 18.5 hours per week, you will oversee purchase and sales ledger processing, manage payment runs and payroll administration, maintain accurate records within SYMPHONY, and support cash flow monitoring and audit preparation.
You will also provide valued HR administrative support, including maintaining personnel records and assisting with recruitment and performance review processes.
The 18.5 hours will be worked across the working week, and the Association is willing to discuss flexible arrangements with the successful candidate.
You will need to be a dependable, detail-oriented professional with experience in finance or accounting administration. You take pride in accuracy, enjoy working methodically, and are confident managing your workload independently within a part-time schedule.
With strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, you are comfortable handling financial data and sensitive HR information with discretion and integrity. You bring a positive, solutions-focused mindset, strong communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to continuous improvement.
Previous public-sector, MOD, or HR administration experience would be advantageous.
Terms and Conditions
The successful candidate will be employed by EM RFCA with the status of a Crown Servant, Pay Band – Executive Officer (EO) equivalent at £15,518 (pro-rata).
Annual leave, excluding public holidays, is 25 days per annum (full-time equivalent), calculated on a pro-rata basis in line with days worked, rising to 30 days after five years’ service.
Previous HM Armed Forces service or public sector service will count towards qualifying years of service.
The successful candidate will be eligible to join the Council of RFCA’s Pension Scheme which operates on a Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) in which the employer contribution is 13% and the employee contribution 5%.
Probation
The appointment is for an initial 6-month probationary period, and final confirmation of your appointment depends on the satisfactory completion of this probationary period.

Commandant Lincolnshire ACF
Applications are invited for the position of Commandant Lincolnshire ACF based out of the County Headquarters in Sobraon Barracks, Burton Road, Lincoln LN1 3PY.
On current plans, the post will become available in September 2026; the successful applicant will need to complete the recruitment process before being formally appointed.
This voluntary appointment carries an initial three-year tenure, extendable thereafter by up to a maximum of two years if agreed by the Commander JMC Centre, who must be satisfied that the extension is in the best interests of the cadet movement and the County.
Under the regulations for a Cadet Force Commission, the successful applicant will assume the rank of ACF Col if qualified.
They will also be eligible for up to a maximum of 28 days ‘Volunteer Allowance’ and will be entitled to residence to place of duty and motor mileage allowances whilst on official duty.
Candidates should ideally have held a commission in the Regular Forces, Reserves, or MOD-sponsored Cadet organisations.
Exceptionally, applicants with extensive senior leadership experience in other youth, community, or voluntary sectors will be considered.
It is a requirement under the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Code of Practice that this position be subject to an ‘Enhanced Disclosure’ prior to appointment.

Adult Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Cadet Forces, enabling young people in communities near you to learn new skills, overcome difficulty and become responsible citizens.
In total, there are more than 20,000 Adult Volunteers from Cadet Forces across the country. And while military experience is welcomed, it is not necessary.
Adult Volunteers also benefit from new leadership and team-building skills, confidence, and, in some cases, vocational qualifications linked to community, social action, and volunteering.
