CORONAVIRUS – CHANGES TO VETERANS UK

Veterans UK OPEN

Veterans UK remains open

Veterans UK has helped over 750 individuals in the first 10 days since lock-down. The staff, who are now remote working, will continue to deliver the best service possible to our most vulnerable veterans.

Veterans UK is working hard to protect both staff and veterans during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they’re very much still open for business. Whilst their staff are having to work from home, there are some changes to services, but here’s what Veterans UK are prioritising:

  • Veterans UK is ensuring all of its almost half a million monthly pension and compensation scheme payments continue as expected into people’s accounts
  • Whilst helpline’s can’t currently take calls, an email enquiry service is being provided via remote working, answering veterans’ questions on a daily basis and providing call-backs when needed Callers can also now listen to recorded service information on the helpline number 0808 1914 218.
  • All requests for welfare support are being met, the same day where at all possible
  • All planned Veterans Welfare Service and Defence Transition Services contact with clients is being maintained (using alternatives to face to face visits of course)

Whilst some casework, including requests for new claims, reviews, reassessments and appeals has been paused during the current situation due to staff being unable to attend the office in person, Veterans UK are working hard to ensure no-one’s payments stop and those who need welfare and other support during this time continue to receive it.  For contact details and more information visit: www.gov.uk/veterans-uk
