Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce pledge support to Armed Forces

Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce has signed the Armed Forces Covenant pledging to support military personnel past and present.

The signing took place on Thursday 21 June at the Chamber’s latest Networking Breakfast and saw the Chamber’s Chief Executive Paul Griffiths sign the Covenant alongside Lieutenant Colonel John Hanson, Commanding Officer of the Army’s 103 Battalion Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant the Chamber is joining 31 other businesses in Northamptonshire who have also pledged to promote that they are an Armed Forces friendly organisation, seeking to support the employment of reservists, former military Service personnel and Service spouses / partners.

Chief Executive Paul Griffiths from Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce explained: “This Covenant recognises the value serving personnel, veterans and military families contribute to our businesses and country.

“I was delighted to sign the Covenant on behalf of Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce.”

John Wilson, the Ministry of Defence’s Regional Engagement Director in the East Midlands organised the signing. He said: “The Chamber has publically recognised the value of the Armed Forces community; reservists, veterans and military spouses. Through the Armed Forces Covenant, it acknowledges the positive contribution made by members of the Armed Forces community, both to their employers and to the country as a whole. The Covenant signing was planned to take place ahead of Armed Forces week when, from Monday 25 June, celebrations will take place around the country with public events to show support for those who serve our country at home and overseas.”
